The following project was designed in order for us to explore and play around with the inner workings of Arduino. We were asked to create an interactive installation that encouraged people to slow and/or divert from the habitual paths. Our group created a small machine with LEDs which lit up red for 15 seconds, and then green for another 15 seconds. A message beside the Arduino project read: "In order to conserve energy, please only open the door when green light is blinking". While most people did notice the installation, it only affected about 30% of our audience.
